Recent Projects

The Trust has deliberately moved away from a six-monthly grant giving cycle and instead is working with a number of partners in Greater Manchester to encourage a co-ordinated approach to tackling disadvantage.

In addition to its focus on maintaining Holt House in Didsbury, since 2014 nearly £2m of the Trust’s funds have:

  • Funded the purchase and refurbishment of new premises for Central Manchester’s The Booth Centre and Salford’s Loaves & Fishes, so that they can now work rent free with the security of a long lease

  • Paid for an extra support worker at The Booth Centre to assess and refer people for accommodation

  • Paid for a project worker and support staff for the Winter Night Shelter in churches run by the Church of England’s Greater Together Manchester

  • Paid for a housing officer and support staff for the Safe Haven Housing Scheme run by Caritas for the RC Diocese of Salford

  • Paid for accommodation and staff costs for the Stop Start Go Sustainable Living scheme supported by a consortium of different agencies to facilitate paid employment

  • Paid towards the costs of extending the work of Lucie’s Pantry at Emmaus Salford

Trustees continue to be willing to consider proposals for new initiatives that would contribute to these overall aims of alleviating poverty and disadvantage in Greater Manchester.
